It is part of the Kilnsey Estate which dates back to the 1200s. it was originally farmed by monks from Fountain's Abbey, then given by Henry VIII to one of his nobles. It was acquired by the Roberts family in 1911.

Kilnsey Park's Cafe by the Lake offers delicious Yorkshire home cooking and is the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea during a visit to Kilnsey Park. All the food is freshly made and does not include any artificial ingredients.
Children are welcomed and an excellent children's menu and high chairs are available. We are very happy to warm up baby food for you and we also offer baby changing facilities. There are plenty of colouring sheets and crayons to keep visitors busy while meals are being prepared.

In addition to fieldwork, we hold a programme of talks by guest lecturers during winter, spring and autumn, as well as guided walks during the summer months.
Recently we have conducted grant funded surveys and excavations, in conjunction with Ingleborough Archaeology Group, of the lime kiln and corn drying kiln at Kilnsey Green.
Several landscape surveys have been produced, in conjunction with the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Research Trust, of the area around, and in, Threshfield Quarry and further afield at Langcliffe Scar.
U.W.H.G. members also play a major part in the summer excavations at Chapel House Wood organised by the Yorkshire Dales Landscape Research Trust.

Formed in 1840, Kilnsey Angling Club is amongst the oldest established clubs in the country, proud of its19th century origins and maintaining its strong traditions.The club continues to offer a warm welcome to visiting anglers.
The club met at the Tennant Arms in Kilnsey from its formation up to 2018, where in the early days both members and visitors arrived by the mail coach or carriage and pair from Skipton. Several esteemed angling authors have been members, so the club waters, in their beautiful surroundings, are nationally famous and over the years have been host to many well-known anglers.
Today the club continues to preserve the excellent brown trout fishery and its wildlife. The time honoured North Country method of wet-fly fishing using traditional Yorkshire patterns and excellent dryfly fishing using modern fly patterns are very productive all season.
The club representatives now meet members and day ticket fishermen every day of the season at the Cafe by the Lake, located within the Kilnsey Park Estate. Day tickets may be purchased between 9:30 am and 10:00 am.
